Hi everyone, I’m Arron. Welcome to Brightspark Dog Training

Firstly an ode to “Duke” my best friend. Named “Brightspark” on his Kennel Club papers, Duke is a male Rottweiler and has been in the family for over 5 years now. Without him, Brightspark Dog Training wouldn’t be here.

Rottweilers are an amazing breed, full of character and playfulness, their intelligence is matched only by their stubborn tendencies (I’m sure other Rottie owners will agree). However, owning one comes with a huge responsibility but Duke has converted some of the most “anti-dog” people you could ever meet. He now spends his mornings entertaining and greeting children and parents who attend my wife’s childcare setting, Bluebells Childcare.

A bit about me. I have recently left the military after 10 years of service within Her Majesty’s Royal Marines. During this time I strove to achieve the highest levels of professionalism and integrity, traits which will stay with me forever and are now how I intend to uphold Brightspark Dog Training. My last roll before leaving was as a recruit instructor at Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, where I taught recruits from day one, right the way through to the start of their professional careers 32 weeks later. This job was amazingly rewarding and taught me many instructional skills that are helpful within the training classes I now offer. Don’t worry though, there will be no drill sergeant impersonations at my classes. I believe people, and more importantly dogs, learn best in a relaxed atmosphere where rewards and encouragements are plentiful.

I adopt a reward based training technique. Choke collars etc. are neither condoned or allowed at the classes. I believe that positive encouragement, perfect timing of rewards and an understanding of what your dog wants is the best way to make progress with dog training. This was the ethos I used whilst on the British Institute Of Professional Dog Trainers course where I received my honours pass as a stage 1 instructor.

So whatever your training or dog walking needs, please have a look through the website, share if you know people who may be interested and get in touch if you have any questions.

I hope to speak to you soon, Arron
