I started my dog walking – pet sitting business in 2019 – initially very small just offering a few hours per day/ week whilst I built up and was in a position to leave my job – I’d rehomed a five month old collie who was living in a permanent state of high arousal and hyper sensitivity
And my research and learning led me into dog behaviour and dog interaction – so starting Bella Boo’s of Newport at a time when I was feeling very despondent with the career I was in (My background is child care playwork and post compulsory education ) the transfer to dog walking seem a very logical step

Since then – BBN has grown beyond all my expectations.

My continued struggles with Bella meant I worked with a range of trainers in a range of situations but I couldn’t quite get it right for her
Then I found absolute dogs and the journey really took off

During lockdown I did some of their courses and then completed the pro dog trainer course and geek – this is a style of working I find suitable for my personality and ethos !
I was never Intending to offer training but I offered a few social walks and a few workshops – then a few one to one sessions to support others and so Pawsitive Pooches of Newport has also developed

Bella has come on leaps and bounds – and we also now have 2 year old Bonnie ( a GSD / staffie cross ) and Lottie who is a Seven year old JRT who I fostered for a client who had fallen and broke his pelvis – sadly his health has deteriorated and Lottie is staying with me ( I am her seventh home and I don’t feel comfortable trying to rehome her again )

I’m on a continuous journey of discovery and development and relish being part of groups that promote good practice and support others to become the best they can be – we don’t know what we don’t know and therefore networks and professional have always been really important to me –

I maintain an enhanced DBS check on the update service which is reviewed annually and have completed a number of dog walking / pet sitting courses on line
My insurance is with Protectivity and my vehicle is covered for pet transportation

My team includes three part time walkers as well as myself and I also have established links with three network walkers who help cover wider areas
I am member of the Professional dog walkers association and strive to Offer the very best in care and enrichment for your pets
