My name is Derek and I am 41 years of age. I have owned Border Collies most of my Life so have over 20 years experience with dogs and have also worked with cats (including taken them to the vets). One of my hobbies is a love for walking and the great outdoors so it seemed the logical thing to combine the two. (I am also a scout leader for Haringey District Scouts references and CRB available)
I use positive reward based training and like to implement any training that is also being undertaken by the dogs owners. This is to allow for consistency at all times and reinforcement of good behaviour.
I try to vary the walks as I believe their environment should be both interesting and stimulating. It is as much mental stimulation as well as physical exercise that tires a dog out and makes for restful sleep.
In this part of London we are incredibly fortunate with the amount of beautiful open spaces available to us. A typical dog walk will take a minimum of 1 hour but will often be longer at no extra charge to the client. When the weather is wet the dogs are towelled down before being returned home.
Naturally I provide a free, initial consultation to ensure that you and your furry friend feels happy and comfortable with me.
I think it is very important that you know what your dog gets up to on their walks which is why you get regular upodates via email including photos and videos. I feel that this is a really valuable way of not only feeling reassured that your dog is being well exercised but also gives an insight into how they are away from home.
