Hi – I’m Alison and my business is Happy Pets Homecare. I’ve worked with dogs since 2013 and my main focus is on helping owners with dogs with behavioural issues through implementing fun, friendly and positive training methods.
I’m a behaviourist specialising in 1-1 sessions which means that each consultation is specifically tailored to you and your dog. My aim is to help your dog overcome their behavioural issues, and I work particularly with dogs experiencing fears, phobias, anxiety and reactivity.
I run a range of different programmes alongside one-off consultations to ensure that both you and your dog get the support needed.
I am a member of the IMDTB (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers & Behaviourists), alongside being an approved Dog Trainer with the Dog Training College. I am also a Reactivity Specialist with the Dog Training College. As a member of both of these institutions I proudly display the UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter which places your dogs welfare at the very heart of everything I do. It also assures you that I have been checked and am supported and monitored by a reputable accrediting organization.
I have a BSc (Hons) First Class in Psychology which enables me to use knowledge of both human and dog psychology to really strengthen the level of understanding between both owner and dog, and I believe that behaviour modification should always look at your dog’s underlying emotion and work on this, in order to resolve behaviour issues and to prevent further issues from occurring.
Further qualifications include:
Pet Bereavement Councillor (with the Centre of Excellence)
Overcoming Separation Anxiety (with the Dog Training College)
Canine Health and Nutrition (with Canine Principles)
Easy Walks with Your Reactive Dogs (Canine Principles)
Positive Dog Training for Ethical Owners (Canine Principles)
I am also fully insured and Pet First Aid trained.
