As The Dog Walkers we would like to introduce ourselves.

Vivienne and I met some years ago after an extended visit to South Africa. I am a Carpenter by trade and an animal lover by heart. For over 40 years I have loved and cared for my own dogs, cats, and exotic pets. I have always wanted to move away from building sites and follow my dreams of working with animals to make a living. Viv left the corporate world about 10 years ago to follow her passion of working with animals. Over the years, against all odds in a male dominated industry she was able to successfully build a Wildlife Consulting business where she was professionally involved in the hand rearing of wild cats such as serval & caracal, the capture, relocation, transportation, and rehabilitation of various other animals from small antelope to rhino and When Viv decided that she would join me in Manchester there was no doubt in our minds that with our mutual love for animals and the outdoors the logical step would be for us to find a way to follow our hearts and work with animals and so The Dog Walkers was established.

We have been walking dogs and caring for people’s pets since the first lockdown and loving it. We pride ourselves in being able to offer a professional but personal service to our clients. Whether we’re out walking your special little friend or looking out for them whilst you are away from home, you can be rest assured that they are in experienced and caring hands. We know that they are never just your “pets” they are an incredibly special part of the family and whilst they are out with us, we will take great care to treat them as just that – special!

The Dog Walkers

When you give us your trust to walk your dog or care for your other “pets” and place your family member in our care and supervision we understand how difficult and nerve racking this can be and that is why we at The Dog Walkers are committed to upholding a nationally recognized and rigorous code of practice for dog walkers and pet sitters as laid down by the national association of pet sitters and dog walkers – NARPSUK. https://www.narpsuk.co.uk/profile/thedogwalkers – We want your dogs to be safe, happy, and exercised when they are out walking with us. We can walk them around your neighbourhood, but we prefer taking them to varied Meadows, woods, large parks and trails in Trafford, South Manchester and SK postcodes giving them the opportunity to experience and explore new and exciting places, letting them have as much fun as possible and never walking the same way twice per week. If your pup/dog should get wet and grubby whilst out and about, we will gladly dry your furry friend down with your towel when we arrive back at your home. Our motto is “going the extra mile” and it’s our motto because we never know where the extra mile will lead us.

The Dog Walkers can guarantee that we will become your pup’s 2nd best friend (next to you of course) and we will do our level best to reassure you that they are having a great time when they are out with us – as they say the proofs in the pudding, and we expect the boys and girls to always be excited for our arrival and THEIR walk. It would be our pleasure to send you photographs and vids of them enjoying their time with The Dog Walkers.

Meet and Greet

We enjoy offering that personalised service and therefore like to meet with both you and your pets first to find out about any special requirements, behavioural issues, or illness your dog may have prior to walking or caring for them. This will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have for The Dog Walkers and to make certain that we are going to be a good fit for one another. We know that life can get hectic at times, so if you would prefer not having the meet without the walk then we can arrange both at the same time.

20minutes – Free

Dog walking (group walking)

We will only walk dogs 4 at a time per handler and offer single walks for the more nervous and/or temperamental characters amongst us. We also use treats primarily for dog training and reward purposes which we believe keeps them happy and stimulated. We use a lot of positive reinforcement training with our pack as we believe that as with humans this way has the biggest impact on teaching even an old dog some new tricks.

We supply dog leads, biodegradable poop bags, water, reusable non plastic overshoes (so we don’t leave our mucky paw prints in your home) and dispose of all waste too. The length of time for the walk is the actual walking time, but the dogs will be out with us at all times for roughly 2 hours in total each day per 60 minute group walking.

Home visits – all “pets”

We offer home visits for all your “pets” for playtime and petting, feeding, administering oral medication, water refills, litter cleaning or any other requests, such as watering the plants or putting out the bins for example. Viv or Darren of The Dog Walkers will take care of it for you so that you can have peace of mind whilst away.

Pet Chauffeur

Let your pets travel in comfort and safety. Our “Doggie Buggy” is temperature controlled, blanketed with a smooth fabric floor with windows for them to look out of or even stick their noses out a little as so many of our furry friends love to do. The car can carry all sizes of pets (No Giraffe’s) safely to your chosen destination. We pick up from and deliver to vets, kennels, catteries, groomers, or to simply see their friends. We will transport your pets anywhere you need us to.

Key Safe

If you are unavailable when the dog walkers call and want to leave a key safe and secure, but do not have a key safe fitted to your home. Darren, if asked, will come around and fit one for you after the first week’s booking free of charge, you simply supply your own key safe. Additionally, if you give us a spare key for access, we will store it securely at our premises and should you ever do get locked out of your home and need your key Darren can deliver your key to you or you can collect from us for a nominal fee – depending on time and place of call out. This offers you the added benefit of never getting locked out of your home again.
